A social app with no like counts
Why no like counts?
Like counts turn every post into a scoreboard. You start posting for the number instead of for the people, and you compare yourself with everyone else’s numbers. Research on engagement-optimised platforms links public metrics to social comparison and anxiety, especially for teenagers. We summarised that evidence in our literature review.
So Flair leaves them out. The only social actions are repost, comment, share and private reactions only the creator sees.
Aren’t reactions just likes?
No. When you react to a note, only the person who posted it sees your reaction. Nobody else does, and there’s no count on the note or anywhere public. Reactions never decide what shows up in your feed or anyone else’s. It’s a quiet way to tell someone you liked their note, without turning it into a score.
What you do get
- 10-second notes. Every post is a short video, so posting is quick and watching is quick.
- You choose who sees each note: Public, Friends, Close friends, or Just me.
- No public follower counts. Nobody is ranked by audience size.
- A feed that ends. When you’ve seen everything, Flair tells you so and lets you leave.
- Free, with no ads. There are no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases at launch.
Who is it for?
People who still want to share small moments, but are tired of performing for an audience. If you miss when social media was just your friends being funny, Flair is built for you.
