Reporting and Appeals
This page explains how reporting, enforcement, and appeals work on Flair. Flair is run by one person. Reviews are done by Anwar Syed Ali. We cannot promise that a second, independent staff member will re-review a decision.
1. How to report
In the app, use Report on a note or a profile. Choose the reason that fits best:
- Child sexual exploitation
- I just don't like it
- Bullying or unwanted contact
- Suicide, self-injury or eating disorder
- Violence, hate or exploitation
- Selling or promoting restricted items
- Nudity or sexual activity
- Scam, fraud or spam
- False information
You can also block someone. Blocking hides their content both ways and stops DMs.
If you cannot use the app, email support@useflair.app and include the username or note link.
2. What a report does
A report opens a case and emails the operator. It does not automatically take the note down. Ordinary reports stay visible until we restrict or remove them after review. Child-safety reports are the highest priority.
New uploads are held in private storage and checked before a Public note is copied to the public media host. That check is not a guarantee that every harmful note will be caught before anyone sees it.
3. Actions we may take on a note
- Take no action (dismiss a report that does not break the rules).
- Leave the note up while we look at it.
- Restrict it (hidden from feeds; the author can still see it).
- Remove it (taken down; we may store a hash so the same file is harder to re-upload).
- Child-safety take-down (removed and treated as a high-priority case).
4. Actions we may take on an account
- Restricted — you cannot post; your profile and existing notes may stay visible.
- Suspended — you cannot post and others cannot see you.
- Banned — permanent removal from the service.
- Restore — we lift a restriction or suspension.
We may also remove individual comments or messages.
5. Child safety and the law
If we become aware of child sexual exploitation or abuse material, we take it down and report it to the UK National Crime Agency (or an equivalent authority). We do not operate an automated NCMEC submission system. Cloudflare may notify us if public media matches a known child-sexual-abuse hash; we then take that media down.
6. Appeals
If we removed your note or restricted, suspended, or banned your account and you think we got it wrong, email support@useflair.app with “Appeal” in the subject line. Include your username and what you want us to reconsider.
We aim to reply within 14 days. Complex or legal matters may take longer. Because Flair is run by one person, the same operator may handle the appeal. We will still look at it again in good faith.
We will not restore content that is illegal, that sexualises minors, or that we reasonably believe would put someone in serious danger.
7. Law-enforcement requests
Lawful requests should go to legal@useflair.app. We disclose account information only when we are required to do so or where we believe someone is at immediate risk of serious harm.
